One-of-a-Kind Beauty, Grown by Nature
This burial shroud was coloured slowly using butterfly pea flowers — delicate blossoms known for producing soft blue tones through natural dyeing.
The result is a calm, airy colour reminiscent of clear sky and morning light.
For many families, choosing a natural shroud is an act of intention — a way to return gently to the earth, wrapped in materials that honour both the body and the land.
Each piece is prepared and dyed by hand, and no two will ever be exactly the same.
Plants Used in This Shroud
This shroud was dyed using a traditional botanical process with:
- Butterfly pea flower — a flowering plant long used in natural dyeing to produce soft blue tones
- Natural plant tannins to help the fibre receive and hold the colour
Butterfly pea flowers are known for their gentle chemistry and subtle colour shifts, creating tones that feel soft, calm, and quietly expressive.
The Botanical Dyeing Process
The fabric was slowly immersed in a dye bath made from butterfly pea flowers and left to soak over time, allowing the plant pigments to develop naturally.
Because natural dyes respond to water, fibre, and temperature, the final colour emerges gradually — never forced, never identical.
No synthetic dyes are used.
No chemical finishes are applied.
The fabric remains fully biodegradable.
This slow process honours traditional textile methods and supports a gentle return to the earth.
